Meeting Minutes – May 28, 2004

In addition to general business, announcements, and information-sharing, we reviewed and approved a request from a faculty member to include one of our divisional staff members as a chaperone in an upcoming Travel Study course trip, as well as outlines for the coming year’s student leadership development initiatives and new portions of the Day ONE schedule. We assisted the Staff Development Team in rescheduling the team’s summer planning retreat, in which Dr. C. and Mr. W. also will participate, and we began serious discussion of intentional and coordinated initiatives to continue our new students’ welcome and orientation, several in response to our review this past year of the results of our various research tools, in such disparate areas as safety and security, appropriate comportment in food services facilities, and the arts and culture community of the City of Philadelphia. We laid plans for our “Intensifying our Intentionality” theme for the division for the coming year, in part by means of formal study, using the Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) guidelines as our starting points, of our Alcohol and Other Drug Program (which also will contribute to the biennial review of the program required by law), as well as Career Services and University Ministry and Service, this year’s “units of emphasis.”
