Meeting Minutes – August 20, 2004

In addition to general business, announcements, and information-sharing, we welcomed and refreshed our skills alongside our new and returning professional, support, and student staff members in a variety of ways this weeks. Many of us participated in the second training and development session for the University’s new Freshman Advising Program (Dr. C. represents us on the program’s management team) and in the session our division sponsored for the University community to learn more about and deepen our participation in the USA Today Readership Program. We formally welcomed our new staff members in the annual “DSA Kick-Off” celebration and worked with guests from the faculty and the rest of the University community in our third “Judicial Day” program, designed to help everyone in our division and others learn more about our disciplinary systems and procedures. Many of us also participated in or facilitated sessions for Resident Assistant and Community Assistant training, as we did for last week’s Security Desk Receptionist training program. We met, in association with the Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation staff, with the Student Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees to review the various plans on which we have been working to more deeply involve our student athletes and athletic teams in the University’s larger culture of student involvement, and vice versa. We reviewed Opening Weekend readiness in detail.
