Meeting Minutes – October 8, 2004

In addition to general business, announcements, and information-sharing, we were updated in regard to Career Services’ plans for this week’s first School of Nursing Job Fair and of the success of the University Ministry and Service/Project for Justice and Society-sponsored participation of 70 students in Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s Philadelphia-area lecture. We were apprised of the nationwide flu vaccine shortage that will prevent us from receiving the supply we ordered for our annual campaign to vaccinate students, faculty, and staff; our Health Services staff will devise a series of alternative strategies, to the extent possible. We moved forward with plans to collaborate with Athletics on the October 19 “Explorer Life Skills” session on diversity and related issues for freshman athletes and to lead the early November session on Lasallian leadership. We discussed and agreed to move forward with a proposal brought to us by Information Technology to pilot new commercial software for music downloading and purchase for students, faculty, and staff who use our information network and we began focused consideration, following this week’s meeting of the President’s Cabinet, of requests for new funding that we will contribute to the 2005-2006 budget preparation cycle. We received further updates regarding the Community Development Advisory Board’s work on our guest/visitation policies and procedures.
