Meeting Minutes – November 19, 2004

In addition to general business, announcements, and information-sharing, we learned from Dr. Neubauer of the success of our Peer Educators’ “Mock Tailgating Party and were apprised by Br. Echelmeier of the large number of student, faculty, and staff members (30) registered for the coming weekend’s Kairos III retreat and of the success of the Hunger Banquet. Dr. Cicala and Mr. Wendell apprised us of the success of the past week’s “RA/CA Appreciation” activities, including the Sunday brunch in which they participated. Several of us presented and led discussions at this week’s “Explorer Life Skills” session for freshman student-athletes, which we designed to focus on Lasallian leadership. Dr. Neubauer briefed us on the success (near goal levels) of this week’s Blood Drive and Great American Smoke-Out activities. We outlined the list of DSA staff members who we believe should participate in the University’s new “purchasing card” program, in preparation for Dr. Cicala’s upcoming meeting with the Director of Purchasing. Dr. Cicala, Mr. Hershberger, and Mr. Wendell represented us in discussions with Business Affairs personnel regarding a proposed new key/access control system for our residential staff. We concluded, for now, our series of focused discussions about the various factors that need to be considered as we plan for our new student residence. Dr. Cicala will prepare our conclusions for discussion with the Community Development Advisory Board and will plan to participate in the board’s next meeting.
