Meeting Minutes – January 14, 2005

In addition to general business, announcements, and information-sharing, we prepared budget request forms for 2005-2006 and continued our consideration of support we may provide our students as/when they raise ideas for assistance to tsunami tragedy victims or areas. We participated, along with the rest of our divisional colleagues, in the 6th annual mid-year divisional workshop day hosted by our Staff Development Team. Keynote speaker Dr. Bill Coplin, Professor of Public Affairs in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University, engaged us in consideration of how we can/must continue to enhance our efforts to help our students “do good and do well” as citizens of our communities and the world. We also were happy to have as our guests for the day, which also included a variety of personal and professional development interest sessions, the staff of Rosemont College’s Center for Student Academic Support and, for a portion of the day, staff and coaches from La Salle Athletics. We reviewed preparations for and our collective and individual involvements in our 6th annual King\’s Dream Leadership Development Program for student leaders and our annual welcome breakfast for new students, scheduled for this coming Monday and Tuesday, respectively. We reviewed and approved the first customized poster and the schedule of pre-developed posters for the spring semester’s “Greater Awareness” security and safety program and we discussed various possibilities for the naming of our new student residence, in follow-up to Dr. C.’s related meeting with Br. President McGinnis and upcoming discussions Dr. C. will have, along with Alan and Jeff, with the Community Development Advisory Board.
