NSSE-Related Presentation Scheduled
Dr. Cicala has been invited to serve as a panelist for the session “Using NSSE Results to Inform Improvement and Take Action” to be led by Dr. Jillian Kinzie, Associate Director of Indiana University’s Center for Postsecondary Research and NSSE Institute, at the spring, 2009 Convention of ACPA – College Student Educators International in Washington, DC.
Further details about previous administrations appear in our 2007-2008 Summary and our October 28, 2007 NSSE update, which appear in the Archives section of this site.
ACUHO-I Resident Satisfaction Survey
Conversion of our spring, 2008 results into forms appropriate for wider discussion is nearly complete, and the first rounds of discussion (with Community Development, Administrative Services, the Division of Student Affairs Leadership Team, and the Community Development Advisory Board) are being scheduled. Student focus groups, to help us get to some of the issues that underlie the data, are to be scheduled for the weeks of November 10 and 17, with two groups – one each centering on residential environment and safety/security, respectively – for representatives of each of the sophomore, junior, and senior classes (i.e., representatives of the population that participated in the survey), for a total of six groups.
Further details about previous administrations appear in our 2007-2008 Summary and our October 28, 2007 ACUHO-I update, which appear in the Archives section of this site.
Evaluating Academic Success Effectively (EASE)
As of this writing, we are more than mid-way through this year’s third annual administration of EASE. More than 300 of our new freshmen and transfer students have responded and nearly 100 of the respondents who indicated openness to further contact have received information about relevant University services or resources, and/or invitations to meet with one of us, in response to their expressed needs or concerns.
Further details about previous administrations appear in our 2007-2008 Summary and our October 28, 2007 EASE update, which appear in the Archives section of this site.
Youth Vote ’08 Poll
As of this week, more than 440 La Salle students have participated, for a response rate of approximately 14%, in this multi-institutional study of student voters conducted by UWire, CBS News, and The Chronicle of Higher Education to determine students’ preferences in candidates, the issues student voters find important, their level of engagement in the campaign, and how student voters get their political information. Aggregate state data should be available for our review on or about October 27, 2008, with La Salle-specific data to follow later.
National College Health Assessment (NCHA)
The results of discussions (among the Division of Student Affairs staff, the Executive Board of our Students’ Government Association, our undergraduate Community Development staff, and our Peer Educators) that focused on gleaning conclusions from the spring, 2008 data and developing action items, are being compiled for review and consideration of specific actions beyond those already implemented during this year’s Opening Weekend.
Further details about our spring, 2008 NCHA administration appear in our Summer, 2008 update, which also appears in this 2008-2009 section of our team’s archives.
