In late May, ten students will embark on a three week service trip to Nyeri, Kenya. Here, students will partner with St. Mary’s Boys Secondary School, a fellow Lasallian institution. Volunteers will mainly work with the Juniors Program where Kenyan students range from age four to eighteen.
Students will have the opportunity to teach classes as well as provide tutoring on an individual basis. They will perform development work for the program such as to improve upon St. Mary’s administrative processes as well as general school conditions.

Project Mapendo was exhilarating and frustrating, chaotic and grounding, somehow all at once. It’s a different trip from many of the others offered at La Salle because the concrete effects of our journey can be hard to measure immediately. Mapendo produces a series of ripples that stretch far beyond what any of us can know while we’re there, and I’m just starting to realize how big of an impact it’s had on my life. It simultaneously broke me down and built me up into a far greater person than I ever was without it, and for that I will be forever grateful.
