So you want to join the Commuter & Off Campus Student Association’s E-Board? Wonderful! Read below for some useful information.
Eligibility: You must be a full-time undergraduate student to run for one of the positions listed below. The position descriptions are also below. You can run for more than one position. Please note: If you are running for President or Vice-President you must have been an E-Board member of CAOS for at least a semester. If you are running for the other positions, prior experience is not necessary.
Directions: Read the position descriptions below. Indicate which position you are interested in running for. Answer the questions posed and include a picture of yourself.
Duties and Responsibilities of Executive Board Officers:
- Abide by the Constitution of CAOS.
- Regularly attend all E-Board and General meetings.
- Participate actively in all aspects of CAOS.
- Fulfill all other duties and responsibilities that fall under your E-Board position.
- Be available to leadership development retreats (take place in the fall and spring)
President:
- To preside over all meetings of CAOS.
- To formulate a written agenda for all CAOS meetings.
- To enforce the CAOS constitution.
- To be the official liaison with school officials and other organizations by attending POINT meetings, Board of Trustees Dinner, other organization’s events, etc.
- In the absence of the President and the Vice President, to appoint an acting chairperson.
- Mandatory attendance at all CAOS meetings and events.
Vice President:
- To assume the duties of the President in his/her absence.
- Assisting the President in making executive decisions.
- Communicates with other organizations and departments about partnership and sponsorship of events.
- To maintain the general membership via recruitment at various events such as the Activities Fair.
- Attending Commuter Connector meetings and events to make announcements on the behalf of CAOS and represent the organization to new commuter students.
- Mandatory attendance at all CAOS meetings and events.
Secretary:
- To take minutes at all CAOS E-board and general meetings and maintain a record of all minutes in a binder.
- To provide all members of CAOS with copies of minutes from CAOS meetings upon request.
- To keep an accurate record of attendance of general members and officers within the binder.
- To notify members who failing to fulfill membership requirements and to present names to the Executive Board for further consideration.
- To maintain an updated CAOS general membership list within the binder. This list is to include name, addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers.
- To create and keep a calendar listing all CAOS events which is to be updated each month.
- Mandatory attendance at all CAOS meetings and events.
Treasurer:
- To be in charge of CAOS finances and expenses.
- Maintaining an accurate record of all of CAOS finances and expenses by updating the budget at the end of every month.
- To have a virtual and print copy of the budget within a binder.
- Mandatory attendance at all CAOS meetings and events.
Publicity Director:
- To promote and advertise all CAOS activities and events via print and social media (Twitter, Facebook, school website).
- To update and maintain the bulletin board in the Commuter Lounge every month.
- Mandatory attendance at all CAOS meetings and events.
Program Coordinator:
- To coordinate all CAOS events and activities via the programming checklist.
- Reserve tables and rooms as needed for all CAOS programs and events.
- Mandatory attendance at all CAOS meetings and events.
Co-Program Coordinator:
- To assist all CAOS events and activities via the programming checklist.
- Assist in table and room reservation as needed.
- Mandatory attendance at all CAOS meetings and events.
** if the Program Coordinator needs to resign or is asked to leave, the Co-Program Coordinator assumes all of the Program Coordinator responsibilities **
