In addition to general business, announcements, and information-sharing, we considered and advised Anna regarding several exciting collaborative activity proposals for the spring semester, including an “around the world” event being developed by Late Night La Salle, International Education, and Community Development; a women’s leadership issues forum, being developed by Community Development and University Life, with prospective partners such as the Women’s Studies Program soon to be invited; and an early spring on-campus kick-off event for June’s West Oak Lane Jazz Festival, with partnership among Student Affairs, University Advancement, and the Office of the President, which also will lead to several student internships with the festival.
We reviewed the most recent Enrollment Services applications statistics for the prospective incoming class and we learned of preparations for this coming weekend’s annual Greek Leaders Retreat, in which Alan and Dr. C. will participate. Most of us participated, as well, in this past Monday’s seventh annual King’s Dream leadership program for our students, and we shared and discussed reactions to this year’s program. We reviewed draft plans for Commencement Week submitted to us by the Commencement Year Team, and developed guidance for and requests for additional information from the team.
We began or continued plans for next week’s meeting with the Student Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees; February 14’s presentation by former Superior General and current Trustee Br. John Johnston on Lasallian values and mission to Student Affairs, Athletics, and other faculty and staff members, as well as student leaders; and February 17’s presentations on sexual misconduct prevention by the National Center for Higher Education Risk Management’s Brett Sokolow, which we will sponsor with partnership from SAVE and Peer Educators.
