Board Business 5/Conference Proposals

The Board was given an update from the co-chairs regarding student groups and conference proposals.  At times, student organizations may submit conference proposals with a range of costs (e.g.:  airfare:  $200-900). This is due to circumstances beyond the control of La Salle student organizations.  At times some national organizations might not have all details finalized and also might have the La Salle student group travel to one of several regional sites which might not be known until very close to the date of the conference, thus making a Funding Board proposal at that late date virtually impossible.  To avoid this and give students an opportunity to seek funding, the Board will accept these types of proposals.  For example, the Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) national organization sometimes doesn’t determine, until very close to the date of the conference, where a school’s delegation will be sent, thus the La Salle SIFE team might need to submit a proposal with a range of anticipated costs and may not know, through no fault or responsibility of their own, the specific costs when submitting a Funding Board proposal.
